Bookish Things

Kickass Female Bloggers & Female Characters for National Women’s Day

Today is National Women’s Day here in South Africa and as a means of celebrating I wanted to feature some kickass female bloggers as well as their favourite kickass female fictional characters

Don’t get me wrong; all females are kickass and you’re all so amazing and I totally think that every day should be Women’s Day, but these are just some blogs that I look up to and love to read on a daily basis. I hope that I can introduce you to some exciting new bloggers today and that you’ll find a few new blogs to follow!

 Nihaad from Read & Seek.

Nihaad is a lovely fellow South African blogger from Cape Town. She has a serious love for reading and a Bookstgram that’s to die for. Read & Seek is a proudly South African book blog where Nihaad shares her passion for reading and all things bookish. Through her blog she aims to inspire more people to read by incorporating her personality into her book reviews.

A hope more powerful

 Meggy from Chocolate ‘n’ Waffles.

Meggy is a wonderful blogger from Bordeaux. She loves her dogs, cheeseburgers, book mail (when it’s actually delivered), her mom, waking up early to work all morning, chocolate-coated dried grape with Sauternes in it (white wine from around there!), TV show binge-watching, little messages that make people smile, herbal tea, her precious diary, and the beautiful people in her life. Chocolate ‘n’ Waffles is an excellent blog where Meggy posts lots of bookish things, but she also talks about mental illness and has recently added vlogs in order to better her English.

 Hannah from Mortal Reader.

Hannah is the loveliest blogger ever from Derbyshire in the U.K. She’s currently working as a Tourism and Retail Assistant until she can decide whether to study further or go into a career using her English Literature degree. She has a lowkey obsession with binging TV shows, Harry Potter and Caramel Hot Chocolates (these sound delish). Mortal Reader is a delightful blog filled with loads of great bookish posts and reviews, Hannah also opens up about her Anxiety which is really inspiring.

The Hate U Give

Ashleigh from A Frolic Through Fiction.

Ashleigh is another lovely blogger from the U.K. She loves reading, making Booktube videos (her channel is really fab) and blogging. A Frolic Through Fiction is a lovely blog that I love to read, Ashleigh mostly blogs about books, but she’s recently added more personal posts that are excellent.

 Fadwa from Word Wonders.

Fadwa is another lovely blogger that inspires me on a daily basis. Fadwa is a 20 year old queer Muslim girl, born and raised in Morocco where she’s going to be starting her 4th year of med school in less than a month. When she’s not neck deep in study notes, you can find her reading (obviously), blogging, binge watching one TV -show or another, drawing or working-out. Word Wonders is a fabulous blog where you can find book reviews, amazing discussions and other bookish post. It is also a wonderful blog about diversity, Fadwa focuses on lots of diverse and marginalized books as well as marginalized authors and bloggers.

 Louise from Genie Reads.

Louise is an adorable blogger from the Philippines. She’s currently a senior in high school and still don’t have definite plans for college. Louise is a proud Ravenclaw and her patronus is a Russian Blue Cat but she honestly love dogs more. Genie Reads is a blog about books and other bookish things, if fluffy contemporaries are your favourite then this blog is perfect for you!

Heather from The Sassy Book Geek.

Heather is a 20 something book blogger from the Midwestern United States! She loves reading (obviously) and chatting about books with fellow book lovers on her blog. Heather also spend a lot of time accumulating “useless” knowledge by binging movies, TV shows, and video games when she’s NOT reading! One of her favorite things to do is talk about all things geeky, preferably over a good cup of tea!

Marie from Drizzle and Hurricane Books.

Marie is another blogger that I look up to, she is a 23 year old bookworm living in France. By day she’s a community manager and by night a hardcore book blogger. She also loves to travel when she’s not being forced to be an adult. Drizzle & Hurricane Books is mostly a book blog dedicated to young adult books: book reviews and amazing bookish discussions posts that always hit the spot. Marie also loves to talk about her blogging life, struggles and advice. I love that she shares all her blogging experience with us.

 Trang from Bookidote.

Trang is a lovely blogger from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She describes herself as a little bookworm that loves the comfort of hot chocolate, waffles, macarons and anything sweet. When she’s not reading and blogging Trang is a Psychology Major with a minor in neurosciences, graduating next year and she’s also a research assistant in a sleeping lab (this sounds fascinating). Bookidote is one of my favourite blogs, Trang runs this blog with her co-blogger Lashaan. On there they review books, comics, movies and TV shows.

  1. This is an amazing post, I already follow some of these ladies and love their blogs. Nihaad’s Read and Seek blog and Cuppa with a Book Blogger post is how I found your blog. 😍🤗 I truely love posts like these promoting and introducing and landing a helping hand to other blogs. Another blogger that I really enjoy reading is Jamie at Perpetual Page Turner (, Her blog is a lot of fun just like many mentioned above and yours 😍
