Top Ten Fantasy Books on My TBR

Find out which Fantasy Standalone & Series are on my TBR

I’ve recently learned to enjoy and love the Fantasy genre more, but I’ve seriously neglected this genre for a while which means that there are loads of Fantasy books now waiting for me. These are all books that I have not read at all! Sit back and enjoy – and please don’t slaughter me in the comments

All titles are linked to Goodreads.Top Fantasy Books

A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab — This has been on my TBR for a very long time and ever since the last book came out a few months ago I’ve been dying to eventually read it.

The Bear and The Nightingale by Katherine Arden — This has only recently found its way onto my TBR. It sounds really magical and different and I can’t wait to actually read it.

Illuminae by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff — I’m not the biggest fan of Sci-Fi but the unique format of this book is the main reason it made it onto my TBR list.

Furthermore Tahereh Mafi — This is said to be inspired by Mafi’s childhood love of books such as The Chronicles of Narnia and The Secret Garden and that instantly grabbed my attention. I’m super excited to read this as it sounds like it will be loads of fun.

The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi — This is a fantasy novel that revolves around a retelling of a classic story, it also feature diverse character so count me in! Also the second book has just been released, perfect for binge reading!

Top Fantasy Books 1

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo — I’ve wanted to dive into The Grisha universe ever since I’ve heard about Leigh Bardugo and Six of Crows. I’ve also heard that this has great world-building and some great characters.

Six of Crows Duology by Leigh Bardugo — Guys! I’m so ashamed that I still haven’t read this. I’ve literally had both books on my shelf since December and I still haven’t gotten round to reading them. Soon!

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas — This wasn’t originally on my list, but everyone is so excited for ACOWAR that I have to just give the first book a go and see how it goes from there.

This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab — I’ve been meaning to read this since the day it has been released, but now I think I might wait for Our Dark Duet and just binge read them together. I can honestly not think of anything better to do.

Red Rising by Pierce Brown — The main reason why I added this to my TBR a million years ago was because a lot of people was comparing it to The Hunger Games (something I was obsessed with at the time). Recently I’ve heard it’s even better and now I’ll be lucky enough to binge read this series as well.

Have you read any of the books on my TBR? Which ones would you recommend to me? Are any of these on your TBR as well? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I have Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows Duology on my TBR. I’ve read Court of Thorns and Roses. Didn’t think I would like it at first but by the end I loved it and it’s sequel. I haven’t read Red Rising but my best friend has and she said it was really good!

    1. I’m hoping to read the Six of Crows Duology this month and I’m so excited! I also really want to read ACOTAR but if I do I’ll get all three books so I can do a binge read 😛 I’ve heard so many good things about the Red Rising Trilogy so I’m definitely excited to read that soon!

    1. Really excited to read The Six of Crows Duology – I’m hoping to eventually read it this month 😊 I think I’m going to wait for the third book in the Illuminae series to come out and then I can do a binge read of all three!

  2. The Bear and the Nightingale is wonderful, but not what I expected. I recently read the Six of Crows books and they are indeed fantastic, well worth a read! A Darker Shade of Magic has been sitting on my shelf for over a year! I’ve also got ACOTAR, Shadow and Bone, and The Star-Touched Queen on my list. Obviously we both have good taste.

    1. Definitely! Great bookworms think alike 😉
I really want to read The Bear and The Nightingale, I’ve heard it’s quite different, but different is sometimes a very good thing! I really want to read A Darker Shade of Magic as I’ve yet to read anything by Schwab and I’ve heard some really good things about the trilogy 😊

    1. I’m always late to the hype train, so don’t worry! Most books only release here two months after they’ve been released in the UK, so I’m always behind 😊 I’m really looking forward to Illuminae though.
