Monthly Wrap-Up | March Madness + What I Watched

Wrapping -Up an exciting March

March was a really good month reading wise. For the most part I managed to stick to my March TBR – the only book I didn’t read that was on there was I Am Malala (again). I set out to read 8 books in March and I managed to read 10.

At the end of last month I finished Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire and you can now read that review here.

What I Watched

When I’m not reading you can find me binge watching TV shows, so I thought it would be interesting to add this little segment to my monthly wrap-up. This will include all movies and TV series that I’ve watched in the month.

What I Watched (March)

Trolls (Animation) — The Trolls movie was so cute! They were all so happy and colourful and glittery and I loved them all. I wasn’t as fond of the story line but the animation and singing were still super cute.

Sing (Animation) — I really loved this movie. It was so cute and the animation was so well done! The singing elements were definitely my favourite and I loved the pigs and gorilla the most.

Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them — I loved Fantastic Beast so much! The story line (apart from were Newt tries to catch his escaped Beasts) was a bit weird and not exactly what I had expected. But I loved all the wonderful beasts and Newt Scamander was such a sweet, precious cinnamon roll and I want him and his suitcase to come live with me.

The Girl On The Train — I never actually finished the book, but the movie was excellent. This movie totally had me on the edge of my seat and is everything that one comes to expect from a good psychological thriller. I think I might give the book another go now.

Watched (march)

New Girl (Season 1 & 2) — I love New Girl. Everything is just so relatable and I feel like Jess just knows me and my life.

Suits (Season 1) — This is a rewatch for me. When I watched Suits for the first time I only watched up to Season 3 and now I’m rewatching it with my mom. This is definitely one of my all time favourite series.

Revenge (Season 4) — Revenge was one of my favourite series of all time and I was so sad when I discovered that Season 4 would be the last season. Season 4 however was one of my favourite seasons of the series and I was just so happy with how everything turned out.

The Good Wife (Season 7) — I’m sad that this had to end because The Good Wife has been one of my favourite political drama’s. I was a bit disappointed with the ending and I felt like it was just so sudden and that not all the issues were resolved.

Book Adventures

Each month I’m going to feature some amazing posts from great bloggers around the blogosphere.

  • Analee from Book Snacks Blog talks about things she wants to see more of in books.
  • Heather from The Sassy Book Nerd discusses reviewing books long after you’ve finished them.
  • Fadwa from Word Wonders shares her take on Feminism along with views from other bloggers and some book recommendations.
  • Melissa from Booknerd Momo talks about what makes a fantasy novel good.
  • Puput from Sparkling Letters shares her second Diversity Corner post that focuses on Asian representation and it’s truly amazing.

I got some really exciting bookmail in March! One of the biggest publishing houses in South Africa actually sent me some books to review and I’m so super excited and grateful for this opportunity. I’m hoping to continue working with them in the future.

Did you have a good reading month? Have you read any of the books I’ve read this month? Have you watched any of the TV shows/movies that I’ve watched this month? Let me know in the comments!

  1. You had a great month Michelle! I loved The Girl on The Train book and ended up buying the dvd and then turning it off within 20 minutes. I definitely want to give it another go because I feel like it was just the narration bit I wasn’t a fan of at first, I also don’t like how they changed it to being set in America.

I need to write my March Wrap up post now! 🙂

    1. I think because I didn’t read the book I didn’t mind the narration as much. It definitely helped me understand what was going on, something which I found lacking in the book 😊 But I am planning on giving it a second chance.

  2. You read so many good books this month! I recently watched The Girl On the Train too, and absolutely loved it. I’m glad you’re re-watching Suits – it is absolutely amazing and gets better and better as the show progresses 🙂

  3. Busy, busy! I binge read shows as well when I’m not reading. I also love Suits and Revenge when it was still around. Currently binge watching the latest season of Vikings and trying to catch up on Outlander in between Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal each week. Congrats on the gig with the publishing house!

  5. Nice wrap-up! Like that you included the movies/shows you’ve been watching! I have yet to read or watch The Girl on the Train, but I definitely want to see what the hype was all about (I’ve seen a lot of hate for both though, glad to hear you enjoyed the movie). Hope you enjoy your books in April!! Happy reading! 😉

    1. Thank you 😊 I hope you have a lovely April yourself!
I really couldn’t get into the book, so I felt like the movie was a better option for me. I might give the book another go 😊
